ABOUT US

From its inception, ACTIVATE’s driving force was improving the economic and political strength of Black communities. The acronym ‘Actively Coming Together in Voice, Actions, Theory & Enlightenment’ emphasized a more strategic plan to encourage our citizens to take control of their standing in America.

Our citizens are tired with many struggling to find strength, hope or the desire to fight injustice on top of fighting for basic means of survival. In many cases, those that are economically sound find it hard to maintain a high quality of life because spiritual, mental and emotional wellness aren’t promised to those with money.

The first initiatives launched were Streetlights & We UplIft!

According to Fulton County’s Point In Time Count (PITC) held

in January 2025, 339 displaced

individuals were identified. In 2024, over 3000 had been reported which offers a skewed gap from one year to the next. The covid pandemic caused communal damage that is often downplayed.

Even after many began to earn income again, evictions

prevented some from being able to relocate resulting in paying higher fees to stay at motels and Airbnb's or camping in the woods. It isn’t until you have actually been faced with the threat of being homeless that you are able to see the lack of assistance available and how the government actually treats individuals seeking help. It is disheartening.

Our organization works to provide hope to individuals that are displaced but fighting to recover.

The We Uplift Initiative covers a myriad of issues but on a small

scale. While the overall initiative expands throughout the year, there are different issues being addressed through specific annual events.

Through a series of workshops and informative meetings, community members are able to learn ways to improve their situations through public policy, professional development, financial literacy and more.

Sista Sista, DNA & Safe 'T' Zone

The remaining Initiatives will begin in the Fall.
